Why Minecraft?

Minecraft is the world’s most popular videogame - and a natural fit for therapeutic work. Its open, creative “sandbox” environment allows children and young people to explore, build, play, and express themselves in ways that feel safe, engaging, and familiar.

Research increasingly shows that digital play can support:

· emotional regulation

· stress and anxiety reduction

· social learning and communication

· engagement with services for children who find traditional therapy difficult

Practitioners worldwide are now using Minecraft to bridge the gap between children’s everyday digital play and therapeutic goals. It’s playful, accessible, and deeply motivating - especially for neurodivergent young people.
