Welcome to the Brick-by-Brick® Programme

At Brick-by-Brick®, we believe in the power of play. Our programme creates meaningful, positive experiences for children and young people through collaborative LEGO® building. Brick Clubs (as they’re lovingly called by children) offer a safe, accepting environment where participants can make friends, build confidence, and develop critical social and emotional skills—all while having fun! Whether your child is shy, struggles with communication, or just loves LEGO play, Brick-by-Brick® provides an experience they’ll treasure.

Backed by cutting-edge psychological research, the Brick-by-Brick® programme is based on a proven therapeutic approach that’s shown to improve communication and social and emotional wellbeing. Developed by one of the authors of the LEGO based therapy manual and supported by the LEGO Foundation, it’s the leading programme of its kind.

What makes Brick-by-Brick® special?

Evidence-Based and Effective Backed by cutting-edge psychological research, the Brick-by-Brick® programme is cost effective, and proven to support children's communication, social interaction and wellbeing.

Loved by Children Children can’t get enough of Brick Club! They love the sense of achievement from working together to build something amazing. Many even find friendships they never thought possible, both in and outside the sessions.

More Than Just Play Brick-by-Brick® is not simply LEGO playtime. It’s a carefully designed programme that encourages communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Tailored to Every Child Our child-led approach makes every session unique. Activities can include building LEGO models in teams, freestyle building, or even advanced challenges like stop-motion animation and LEGO coding.

What happens in Brick Club?

Brick Club is designed to be flexible and fun, with children deciding what activities they’ll do and how they’ll work together. Here’s what they’ll experience:

  • Collaborative Play:

Participants take turns in roles like Engineer, Supplier, and Builder, working together to create LEGO models.

  • Building Friendships:

In this supportive environment, young people naturally develop friendships and improve their social confidence.

  • Pride in Achievement:

Children leave sessions beaming with pride about their creations, sharing their joy with others.

  • Improved Communication:

Members learn to communicate by giving instructions, describing models, and sharing ideas—all while building.

Why is Brick-by-Brick® so important?

Today, many children face challenges that impact their social and emotional wellbeing. Schools and healthcare providers are doing their best to support these children, but resources that work are crucial.

Brick-by-Brick®:

  • Provides an inclusive and accepting environment for children of all abilities.

  • Builds skills that help children feel confident and connected.

  • Is cost-effective to deliver, making it accessible to a wide range of organisations.

  • Creates lasting results, with benefits extending into children’s homes and schools.

Parents often say how relieved they are to find a group their child looks forward to attending—without stress.

"Most of my neurodivergent students have experienced growth that extends to improvements in school and at home. I regularly get positive feedback and expressions of gratitude from teachers, therapists, parents, and other caregivers who have seen my students grow well beyond their expectations."

Who can join Brick Club?

Brick Clubs welcome anyone who enjoys LEGO play, from preschoolers to young adults.

The programme was originally designed with autistic children in mind, but its flexibility makes it perfect for young people with a range of strengths, challenges, and diagnoses. It’s gender-neutral and inclusive, creating a sense of belonging for everyone.

"We work with a variety of students with dual diagnoses both mental health and neurodiversity and the Brick Club is able to meet all of the children where they are at developmentally and allow our kids to communicate and work together."

Practitioner training is essential to success

Running a Brick Club isn’t as simple as downloading a resource or attending a quick training course. To ensure success, practitioners need:

  • Comprehensive Training: Delivered by Play Included experts, our training equips practitioners with the skills to facilitate playful, engaging, and effective sessions.

  • Up-to-Date Knowledge: We incorporate the latest research and best practices into our training and support.

  • High-Quality Resources: From the materials to the methodology, everything we provide is top-notch.

Misunderstandings about LEGO therapy abound online, but at Play Included, we ensure every practitioner is ready to deliver high-quality, impactful Brick Clubs.

"Play Included, it’s just the best product in this space. I was really impressed. I have done training like this before, but this was a real step up."
