Job Title: Senior Partnerships Manager

Salary: £65,000 per annum

Reporting to: Company Directors

Position Type: Full Time (37.5 hours per week, flexible hours), office based or flexible (in the office at least 1 day per week)

Role and Responsibilities

  • The post holder will lead on the development of international partnerships with organisations in the USA, Denmark, Mexico, Hong Kong, Greece and others as the company grows. As a start-up company in an exciting phase of fast growth, you will work closely with the Company Directors to support the implementation of our business strategy, developing our networks and relationships worldwide.

  • Identify potential partnership organisations to support our business strategy to scale our training in key countries (starting with USA, Denmark & Mexico). To build relationships with potential partners, share our mission and negotiate partnerships with organisations who share our values and mission and who can support us to deliver more training for professionals in the Brick-by-Brick® programme.

  • To work closely with the Company Directors to deliver our business strategy and deliverables as specified in our grant from the LEGO Foundation.

  • To work closely with the Directors and other members of the leadership team, contributing to discussions about strategy and implementation.

  • To work closely with the Company Directors and the Department for International Trade to ensure compliance of international trade regulations.

  • To gain an in depth understanding of new markets through research and liaison with relevant organisations.

  • To engage meaningfully with our autistic consultants and advisers in all projects and tasks.

  • To work with our autistic consultants, the LEGO Foundation, our advisers and directors to develop procedures to vet potential partners for suitability and shared values.

  • To negotiate partnership agreements with lead partner organisations and support them through the process.

  • Liaising with lead partner organisations in target geographies to culturally adapt and translate the Brick-by-Brick® programme .

  • To seek opportunities for piloting the Brick-by-Brick® programme in low income countries and support postdoctoral research into the Brick-by-Brick programme in low and middle income countries.

  • To support lead partners in their work with marketing, training and supporting trainers in their country and monitoring of performance.

  • Monitoring lead partner performance and engagement, including regular check-ins, support, and problem solving.

  • Supporting trainers to reach performance goals and deliver high quality training. Measuring trainers' outcomes in terms of number of courses run, uptake of courses, and feedback on course delivery. This will eventually become a dedicated role as we grow, and you will then line manage the trainer and facilitator engagement lead.

  • To think strategically and seek opportunities to further our social mission to support neurodivergent children through collaborative LEGO® play around the world.

  • Coordinating and conducting regular mentoring/check ins with trainers and lead partners.

  • To seek opportunities to develop further relationships, partnerships and collaborations with academic institutions, autism advocacy organisations and others.

  • To attend relevant conferences, events, networking opportunities to raise awareness of Play Included and share our mission.

  • We expect the Senior Partnership Manager to get to know our work and programmes in detail and be able to share our passion, values and ambition to reach more children around the world.

  • To support the Senior Business Manager and Company Directors with the recruitment of trainer and facilitator community engagement lead.

Preferred Skills

  • University degree or higher and relevant experience (or equivalent experience).

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

  • A passion for meeting new people and sharing Play Included’s social mission to improve the lives of children through play.

  • Experience in developing strong partnerships, ideally with international organisations.

  • Experience and knowledge of autism and wider neurodiversity, and/or willingness to undergo training in this field.

  • Willing and able to travel extensively to different countries, especially the USA at the start of the role.

  • Familiarity with the USA is strongly preferred, familiarity with other partnership countries also desirable but not essential (Denmark, Mexico, Hong Kong, Greece, Australia, New Zealand).

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills and experience.

  • Well organised and capable of meeting deadlines.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and willingness to learn how to use Xero, Salesforce CRM and Arlo (online training management platform).

  • Excellent person engagement skills for all members of our team, partner organisations, stakeholders, consultants and advisers.

  • Comfortable talking to a range of partners from different countries and workplace cultures (e.g. academics, charities, health and education settings).


  • Ability to communicate in another language.

  • Contacts in the USA and in academia.

  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector.

  • Experience in autism, training and the Brick By Brick® programme

  • MBA or MPA qualification.

  • Trainer & Facilitator Community Engagement lead (new role to be recruited to in 2022).

Additional Notes

  • To support the team with other project related tasks as necessary.

  • Must be willing to undergo DBS check.

  • Must share our values to support neurodiversity and improve the lives of children and young people.
