Senior Business Manager Job Specification

Job Title: Senior Business Manager

Salary: £60,000 per annum

Reporting to: Company Directors

Position Type: Full Time (37.5 hours per week, flexible hours), office based (flexible, in the office at least 2 days per week)

Role and Responsibilities

The post holder will lead on the team’s business support functions and will be responsible for the management of relevant systems and processes, including Finance, HR, Operations and managing the administrative team. As a start-up company in an exciting phase of fast growth, you will define our processes as we grow, working closely with the Company Directors to support the implementation of our business strategy, including scaling to multiply countries.

Finance & Accounts Management

  • Oversee the financial management of the Company and report to Directors.

  • Manage budgets and cash flow, including grant funding and sales income.

  • Prepare company accounts in collaboration with Directors.

  • Oversee company accounts including VAT.

  • Support Administrator and Operations & Projects Manager with bookkeeping and accounting work.

  • Liaise with the Company accountants to help manage payroll.

Operations

  • Support Directors to deliver new business strategy, including international scaling to the USA, Denmark & Mexico (plus other countries where we have trainers).

  • To lead on Company governance, risk management procedures, insurance, monitoring and reporting, health and safety and liaising with the Directors on all aspects of these.

  • To ensure maximum compliance with predetermined Service Level Agreements with our clients.

  • To define our processes, policies and procedures as our Company expands.

  • Support Directors with coordinating board meetings and recruitment of non-executive directors to the board.

  • Lead on set up of salesforce Customer Relations Management system and liaison with salesforce consultants with support of Operations & Projects Manager and IT Manager.

  • Manage contracts with external suppliers.

  • To take an international focus for our business operations as we scale to new countries.

  • To provide advice, guidance and ongoing support to the team.

  • To engage meaningfully with our autistic consultants and advisers on all relevant projects and tasks.

Human Resources & Performance Management

  • Manage staff performance management systems, annual appraisal process, leave and expenses.

  • Lead on the recruitment of new staff.

  • Manage employee pensions and benefits schemes.

  • Support team wellbeing, team building and a positive supportive ethos.

  • Assist with the management and administration in connection with any self-employed consultants who perform work for the Company.

  • To create individual development plans for all staff.

  • Induction and training of new members of staff.

  • To work with advocacy, marketing and communications lead on internal communications.

Preferred Skills

  • Relevant experience in a similar role in a for profit or not for profit environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to think quickly and come up with solutions to problems that occur in day-to-day business.

  • Experience of supervising and managing other members of staff.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills and experience.

  • Well organised and capable of meeting deadlines.

  • Workforce planning and development.

  • Strong skills in finance and budget management.

  • Understanding and experience of international business and finance management.

  • Experience and knowledge of autism and wider neurodiversity, and/or willingness to undergo training in this field.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and willingness to learn how to use Xero, Salesforce CRM and Arlo (online training management platform).

  • Experience in business process and system design.

  • Excellent engagement skills for all members of our team, partner organisations, stakeholders, consultants and advisers.

  • To support the team with other project related tasks as necessary.

  • Must be willing to undergo DBS check.
